But one bright memory I always think about was the day after she was born. It was early in the morning, I was sitting in the hospital bed staring at the sweet new life in the bassinet next to me. I reached into my hospital bag and pulled out some things I packed to dress her in. She was swaddled and sleeping so peacefully, I didn't dare stir her. I had a collection of beanies and Bunny Knots - we didn't know if we'd be welcoming a girl or boy, so I prepared for both. The sunlight hit her bassinet so perfectly in that moment, I felt compelled to capture photos with my phone. I set the beanies back in my bag and gently slipped one of the Bunny Knots over her head. Instant love. It was like a shock to my heart how absolutely sweet she was. As I was taking a million photos, one of our nurses walked in. She looked down in the basinet and threw her hands up over her mouth. She told me not to move, that she HAD to show the other nurses. Less than a minute later I had four nurses and a midwife huddled around my daughter ooo'ing and awww'ing over her (well, her Bunny Knot). Throughout the rest of the day, we had multiple staff members stop in to "check out her little head thingies". It was such a fun experience. As parents, all we want are for our children are for them to feel loved and to feel special. I can't tell you how many times we've heard this same story from other mothers and fathers.
